On the 6th of January 2019, the 19th Pancyprian Congress of EDON was competed, after 3 days of intensive works, at the Conference Centre “FILOXENIA”, in Nicosia.
The 19th Pancyprian Congress set out the aims and targets of the Organization for the next three years. Goal for organizational recovery, strengthening youth struggles, enhancing educational work, political struggle and work ahead of the forthcoming European Elections.
EDON through the Congress assures the youth and the Cypriot people that they will remain at the forefront of the struggles for the liberation and reunification of Cyprus, as well as the struggles for the rights of the new generation and to defend its achievements.
In the three-day conference, 523 delegates from all the local branches of EDON participated, from Cyprus and abroad. Representatives of the Turkish Cypriot political youth organizations and foreign delegates from 18 Youth Organizations - Members of the World Federation of Democratic Youth were also present.
During the final day of the congress the Political Decision, the Resolutions on the International Situation, on the situation in Middle East, for solidarity towards the Cuban People and the Resolution towards the Turkish Cypriot Youth, as well as the Financial Report were submitted to the Congress and were approved unanimously (Please follow the links to read the whole documents). In addition, during the final day of the Congress the new Central Council of EDON was elected.
On the last day of the Congress, the elections for the new Central Council were held, while at the closing of the procedures the General Secretary of the Central Committee of AKEL addressed the congress.
During the election process for the new members of the 60-member Central Council of the Organization, the following were elected:

Following the Congress, a meeting of the Central Council of EDON was held on the 11th of January 2019, during which the new leadership of EDON was elected:
• Comrade Christos Christofias was re-elected as the General Secretary of EDON.
• Comrade Vakis Charalambous was re-elected as the Central Organizational Secretary of EDON.
• The elected members of the Secretariat of EDON are the following comrades: Seviros Koulas, Nicolas Kalogirou and Chrysostomos Panagi.
• Finally, the elected member of the Executive Council of EDON are the following comrades: Christos Makris, Savvas Christoforou, Alkis Sylikiotis, Christoforos Charalambous, Stavros Agathou, Anthoulla Menelaou, Marios Manolis, Andreas Solonos, Apostolos Tsakkistos, Charalampos Pantazis
