EDON expresses its full solidarity with the Socialist Youth Union of Sri Lanka and the struggling people of the country for the struggle they have been waging in last days with mass mobilisations and demonstrations.
Sri Lanka is facing its worst economic crisis in decades as a result of the fall in the exchange rate and the hit to tourism caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The capitalist crisis has left the Sri Lankan people facing inflation and shortages of basic goods such as food, petrol, medicines and electricity, resulting in impoverishment. The neo-liberal policies of the corrupt Gotabaya Rajapaksa government have led thousands of people to the streets demanding the resignation of the President and his family who are abusing their power and trying to mortgage the country and the people to the machinations of the NWO.
The International Relations Bureau of EDON contacted today the Socialist Youth Union of Sri Lanka which is leading the mass mobilisations, conveying the solidarity of our Organisation with their struggle, as well as its congratulations for the positive turn that developments seem to be taking.
As EDON we remain firmly in solidarity with the people who struggle against the capitalist system, oppression and inequality, against authoritarian regimes and the impositions of imperialism.
