On the 4th of January 2016, the 18th Pancyprian Congress of EDON was competed, after 3 days of intensive works, in the Conference Centre “FILOXENIA”, in Nicosia. During the final day of the congress the Political Decision, the Resolutions on the International Situation, on the situation in Middle East, for solidarity towards the Cuban People and the Resolution towards the Turkish Cypriot Youth, as well as the Financial Report were submitted to the Congress and were approved unanimously. In addition, during the final day of the Congress the new Central Council of EDON was elected.
The 18th Congress consists a force for the organization to move forward even stronger. It is a starting point in order to enhance the struggles of the Cypriot Youth, aiming at the further organization and counterattack in order to achieve and implement our visons for the youth. The congress has determined the guiding lines, based on which our organizations will work during the next three years, in order to improve our organizational situation, to reinforce our work on ideological level, as well as the role we will have during the upcoming Parliamentary Elections.
Through this congress EDON affirms that will continue to express the interests and expectations of the young generation and the people of Cyprus.
During the three days of the Congress 662 representatives participated, from all the Local Organizations of EDON, from all over Cyprus and abroad. At the Congress representatives from Turkish Cypriot Political Youth Organizations also participated, as well as international representatives from 13 Youth Organizations-members of WFDY.
Following the Congress, a meeting of the Central Council of EDON was held on the 7th of January 2016, during which the new leadership of EDON was elected.
Comrade Christos Christofias was re-elected as the General Secretary of EDON.
Comrade Vakis Charalambous was re-elected as the Central Organizational Secretary of EDON.
The elected members of the Secretariat of EDON are the following comrades: Andreas Gregoriou, Marios Panayi and Nasos Koukos.
Finally, the elected member of the Executive Council of EDON are the following comrades: Costas Diplaros, Marianna Demosthenous, Christos Michael, Georgia Parmaki, Demetris Ioannou, Kyriakos Charalambous, Anthoula Menelaou, Nikolas Kalogirou, Christos Nikolaou and Antreas Panayiotou.
